THE NEW AGE is a
half-hour coming of age/workplace dramedy that uses
humor, heart, and a healthy dose of magical realism
to explore the intriguing modern-day world of
“new age” spirituality.
The show centers around Michael,
a young, gay, Latinx man who is in desperate need of some growing up. After losing a job, his boyfriend, and a ton of his self-worth, he walks into The New Age, a spirituality-themed bookshop, where he’s immediately offered a new job and told that he’s a witch and a healer.
But what the hell does that even mean?
The show will focus on Michael
and his unconventional journey of self-discovery.
Through The New Age shop and its wildly quirky cast of characters, he will spiral into a modern-day hero’s journey that will take him (and the audience) through a deep dive into Tarot cards, astrology, crystals, urban witches, the afterlife, identity, finding home, forgiving family, questioning faith, and seeking out your purpose while learning a shit ton about yourself along the way.
